General Shipping Policy

By placing an order on Leonidas-USA.com, you confirm acceptance of these Shipping and Returns terms. All orders are shipped from Leonidas-USA, 1907 Central Street, Evanston, IL 60201 via FedEx, UPS, or USPS.

Leonidas Chocolates USA is not liable for delays or damages caused by carriers (FedEx, UPS, USPS), theft, weather, or heat exposure at the delivery location. Once a package leaves our facility, responsibility transfers to the carrier.

Shipping Options and Processing Times

We offer several shipping methods, including Standard, 2-Day, and Next-Day delivery (subject to carrier service area and weather conditions).

  • Order Cutoff Time: Orders placed before 10:00 AM CST are typically processed the same day (excluding holidays and peak seasons). Orders placed after 11:00 AM CST are processed the following business day.

  • Weekend and Monday Deliveries: We do not ship over weekends or guarantee Monday deliveries due to potential temperature and transit risks.

  • Warm Weather Shipping: From May 1 – October 1, and year-round to warm-climate states (AZ, CA, FL, GA, LA, NM, NV, SC, TX), Overnight shipping is required to ensure product quality.

Orders placed during Valentine’s Day, Christmas, and other peak seasons may require additional processing time (up to 3 business days).

Warm Weather and Packaging Guarantee

Our packaging is designed to protect chocolate during transit, using insulation and special cushioning materials. Still, chocolate is a perishable product and can be affected by heat exposure.

To prevent melting:

  • Ship to an air-conditioned location (such as a workplace) whenever possible.

  • Track deliveries actively and collect packages promptly.

  • You may request FedEx or UPS to hold packages for pickup at a nearby facility through their respective Delivery Manager services.

Leonidas is not responsible for heat damage if the delivery address is unattended or if the recipient is unavailable at the time of delivery.

Delivery Times and Limitations

  • Carriers such as FedEx, UPS, and USPS do not guarantee delivery times, even when Overnight or 2-Day services are selected.

  • We are not responsible for delays or damages resulting from force majeure events (weather, natural disasters, carrier issues, labor strikes, or other unforeseeable disruptions).

  • Free shipping applies only to contiguous U.S. states with daytime temperatures below 72°F. Deliveries to AK, HI, and extreme heat zones may incur a surcharge or upgraded shipping requirement.


Address Accuracy and Delivery Responsibility

Accurate shipping addresses are essential.

  • Carriers do not verify addresses and may return shipments for incorrect or incomplete addresses.

  • A $13 address correction fee (per FedEx rates) will apply for any address errors.

  • Refunds are not issued for failed deliveries due to incorrect information.

  • Customers may use free address validation tools, such as SmartyStreets Address Verification, before placing bulk or gift orders.

Returns and Refunds

All chocolate sales are final. Because Leonidas products are perishable food items, returns are not accepted.

If a package is refused, undeliverable, or returned to us by the carrier, the customer may request a second shipment by covering the re-shipping cost. In these cases, the product may have been exposed to varying temperatures during transit.

If your order arrives damaged or incomplete, please email info@leonidas-usa.com within 48 hours of delivery. Include your order number and clear photos of the damage for review. We will assist in filing a carrier claim when applicable (excluding heat or theft-related issues).


Seasonal and High-Volume Periods

During holidays and major chocolate seasons (Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day), transit times may be longer due to increased carrier backlogs. Please place orders early to ensure timely delivery.

Leonidas reserves the right to delay or suspend shipments to protect product quality during extreme temperatures or other adverse conditions.


Fraud and Chargebacks

Leonidas actively monitors fraudulent activity in online transactions. We reserve the right to cancel, hold, or decline suspicious orders. Fraudulent or disputed claims (including false “item not received” reports) will be investigated thoroughly and may be reported to authorities.
